This morning, the NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts PAC announced their endorsement of Jay Gonzalez for Governor. Gena Frank, Legislative and Political Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, released the following statement on behalf of the PAC:
Reproductive freedom is under unprecedented attack at the national level. We need a governor who will be a bold champion for women and families all of the time, not just when it is convenient. Jay Gonzalez knows that reproductive health care is health care, and abortion care is health care. He will work with us to expand access to that care for all Massachusetts residents, regardless of immigration status, and he will fight to keep families together. That is the leadership we need, and that is why we’re proud to endorse Jay Gonzalez for governor.
While Governor Baker claims to be pro-choice, he has repeatedly betrayed women and families: He vetoed a bill this session (Lift the Cap on Kids) which would have provided much needed assistance to low income children and their families, held a fundraiser for the most vocal anti-choice member of the State Legislature, and endorsed a candidate for U.S. Senate who would vote to appoint Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. We deserve a governor who will fight tooth and nail for the women and families of Massachusetts. We know that Jay Gonzalez will be that fighter.
Jay Gonzalez released the following statement in response to the endorsement:
I am honored to receive the endorsement of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, the organization which is leading the charge here in Massachusetts against the confirmation of Judge Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts leads the way in protecting a woman’s right to access reproductive healthcare in our state and needs a champion in the corner office. I will be an ally to NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and to women across this state not just some of the time, but all of the time.
