Boston, MA

Today, in an overwhelming and bipartisan vote, the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed the Advancing Contraceptive Coverage and Economic Security in our State (ACCESS) bill. In response, Rebecca Hart Holder, Executive Director of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts, released the following statement:

“With passage of the ACCESS bill in the House, Massachusetts is poised to be the first state in the nation to pass a law that protects and expands access to contraception after the Trump administration’s interference with contraceptive coverage mandate in the Affordable Care Act. We applaud the House’s leadership on this critical issue. We urge the Senate to take up the legislation as soon as possible.”

The ACCESS bill would strengthen state law to ensure access to co-pay free birth control.

The Governor has indicated that he intends to sign the bill when it comes to his desk.
