NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and the Pro-Choice Massachusetts Foundation announce Megan Amundson as Executive Director, beginning today.
“After an extensive search, we are very excited to welcome Megan as our new Executive Director,” said NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts (PCM) Board Chair Lindsey Tucker. “Megan has considerable political experience and passion for and understanding of the organization after having served on our board. She comes to us with the knowledge and talents to ensure that NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and the Pro-Choice Massachusetts Foundation continue to lead in advocating for a woman’s right to choose on Beacon Hill and in health care and reproductive access discussions across the Commonwealth.”
Megan had served on the NARAL PCM board since 2010, working to shape the current strategic plan and build fundraising capacity. She brings years of political expertise to NARAL PCM with experience as a long time lobbyist and in running municipal, state legislative, and statewide electoral campaigns in Massachusetts. Megan was the Principal of Megan Amundson Strategies, a political consulting firm focusing on grassroots legislative, electoral, and community relations campaigns. She worked with nonprofit organizations, unions, candidates, and elected officials to build and implement campaign strategies.
In 2010, Megan was the Campaign Manager for the Vote No on 2 Campaign to Protect the Affordable Housing Law, a statewide ballot initiative that won by the largest margin of any initiative on the ballot that year. Prior to that she was the Political Director at the Massachusetts League of Environmental Voters. Megan has a Masters Degree in Urban and Environmental Policy and Planning from Tufts University and a Bachelors Degree from the University of Minnesota.
“Right now we are seeing unprecedented attacks on women’s health in the halls of Congress and across the country. At this critical time, the work and advocacy of NARAL Pro-Choice Massachusetts and the Pro-Choice Foundation is vital to the protection of choice in Massachusetts,” said Megan. “This is a thrilling opportunity to work with the organization’s dedicated staff and diverse volunteer leadership to ensure that women maintain the ability to make personal decisions about their reproductive health and that we extend access to reproductive health care in Massachusetts.”
